The Wave-Front Correction System for the Sunrise Balloon-Borne Solar Observatory.;The central aim of the Sunrise project is to understand the structure and dynamics of the magnetic field in the solar atmosphere. The magnetic field is the source of solar activity, controls the space environment of the Earth and causes the variability of solar. It is of great scientific interest, though, to sample directly the ions that exist-0 2+, N 2+, 0 +, NO+, He +- t o identify ionization mechanisms and trace the complex chemical- reaction kinetics of this thin medium.
